    At BooksOpen, we’re building something that lasts. Not just through software but through trust. We're here to help independent service providers thrive, with tools that respect their craft, their time, and their clients.

    But how we build matters just as much as what we build. That means treating people right: our team, our customers, and the broader community.

    We keep things simple. When you work with us, you're part of a high-trust network. That means we won’t micromanage how you act, but we do expect you to show up like an adult. Respect yourself, respect others, and don’t make us regret that trust.

    Scope

    This Policy applies to all BooksOpen community members: team (employees and contractors), partners, customers, and anyone else interacting with the company.

    How We Make Decisions

    Ask yourself:

    • Is it legal?
    • Does it reflect BooksOpen’s values?
    • Does it respect others?
    • Would I feel good about this?

    If you're unsure, ask.

    Zero Tolerance for Harassment

    Harassment, violence, and discrimination have no place here. That includes sexual harassment, threats, bullying, or retaliation.

    Definitions:

    • Harassment: Ongoing or severe unwelcome conduct.
    • Sexual Harassment: Unwanted advances, comments, or actions tied to gender or sexuality.
    • Violence: Use—or threat—of physical force or harm.

    Unacceptable Conduct

    Here's what's not okay:

    • Discrimination of any kind
    • Harassment, sexual or otherwise
    • Physical violence or threats
    • Bullying or intimidation
    • Retaliation for reporting a concern
    • Ignoring safety or wellbeing
    • Being a jackass

    Health & Safety

    Online or off, safety matters. Everyone’s expected to follow health guidelines and act with care.
